Applying for a Listing

Is there a charge for my listing?
No, listings are free; however there is a one-time application fee of  $200 for the first category and $50 for each additional category in which you wish to be listed.

How do I know if I’m qualified for a certain category?
Generally, you are qualified if you can provide three recent references for production work covered in that category and/or your company is located in the area the book serves.

Once we've reviewed your references, and we've determined you have qualified, you will receive a phone call from someone in our editorial department letting you know your application has been approved.

What category do I belong in?
If you are unsure of where you or your company belongs, check the specific category requirements for descriptions of companies and individuals that we allow in each category.

What kind of references are you looking for?
Names and contact information of three people for whom you have worked in the past 12 months. The services you provided these people must be coincide with the category for which you are applying. Lists of friends, vendors or co-workers are not acceptable.

For how many categories can I apply?
You are allowed to apply for up to five categories.

How long until my application is processed?
411 will process your application as quickly as possible. Most applications get processed between two to six weeks. During update season, this may take even longer. Please be patient.

I was told my application was accepted. Why isn’t it online yet?
Listings may take up to five days to appear online. If your listing fails to appear after that time, please e-mail Bryan Cuprill at bryan.cuprill@reedbusiness.com.

My application was rejected. Can I get a refund?
No. Application fees are non-refundable.

Instead of references, can I send call sheets or contracts?
Sometimes. Call sheets are acceptable only for individual applicants such as crew members. Production companies should not send over call sheets that they themselves created.

Contracts are fine only when they are for services that you and your company rendered. Do not send contracts for your vendors or others whom you have paid. Invoices are not accepted.

Keep in mind that the point of all this is to prove that someone has paid you to do production work, not the other way around. Again, this is for work done in the past 12 months.

I am in LA 411. Can I be automatically added to New York 411 (or vice versa)?
No. A separate application must be submitted for each 411 directory in which you wish to be listed.

Changes to your listing may take several days to be processed, and may not appear online immediately thereafter.

Please note that certain changes, such as those to descriptions and business names, are left to editorial discretion. Not all requests can be approved.

Why can’t I get a certain description in my listing?
In the interest of fairness to all listees, as well as usefulness of the book to our readers, 411 Publishing cannot approve every request for a description. Descriptions are left to the review of our editorial department.

I recently changed my business name. Why am I being asked to provide a business license?
For reasons of legality and fairness to all our listees, we only list companies by their actual business name. Therefore, you may be asked to provide a copy of your state/city business license to confirm your name.
