LA 411 Book Display and Consignment Program Launches with Positive Reception and Overwhelming Success

September, 2005. Los Angeles, CA—411 Publishing is proud to announce the launch of the LA 411 Book Display and Consignment Program. During the past two weeks, film, television, commercial and music production company directory publisher, 411 Publishing, has reported an overwhelmingly positive response to the roll out of their book display and consignment units throughout Southern California.

75 book display units have been dispatched to production offices, studios, sound stages, film schools and retail outlets within the production community. 35 of those are book display units were given free of charge to production offices, including Universal Studios, Southbay Studios, Los Angeles Film School, UCLA Film Department and Technicolor. The other 45 are full-size displays offering books for purchase at production and other retail outlets such as Samy’s Camera and The Writers Store .

The goal of the Book Display and Consignment Program is to expose the production resources in the LA 411 to a larger audience. This exposure ultimately benefits not only listees within the book, but also members of the production community seeking individuals, companies and services that have all been qualified through 411’s strict editorial guidelines.

Kevin Davis, Publisher of 411, had this to say of the book display program. "We created the book display program to place the books at the finger tips of those in our community. By distributing display copies in production facilities we have made it more convenient for users to get the resources they need while on production."

Joni Ballinger, senior business analyst explains that "the display program rounds out our distribution strategy. It gets the books in expendables stores as well as studios, stages and production offices all over Southern California."

“The LA 411 is the essential resource for all your production needs. Everyone uses it. It’s the only resource you can really trust,” said Rick Gamarra, President of Southbay Studios when asked about South Bay’s participation in the program. “Now, 411 Publishing has made it even easier to use by rolling them out in the ‘Display Unit program.’ Producers and production managers use the LA 411 while on set to call upon prop makers and art designers etc., but also use the LA 411 to research the next phases of the production schedule. Instead of having to travel with their personal copies of the LA 411, 411 Pub has conveniently placed them in key locations throughout Southern California.”

The program has been so successful in fact that 411 plans to roll out a second round of book display and consignment units later this year. Demand is already high and interested participants in the Book Display and Consignment Program are encouraged to add their name to the waiting list by sending an email to books411@reedbusiness.com.
