Crown Disposal

Sun Valley, CA 91352
818-767-0675
What they are doing:
Crown Disposal has been providing waste and recycling service to Los Angeles for over 50 years. Early on, we saw the importance of providing alternatives to landfilling, and in 1974 built our Material Recovery Facility in Sun Valley, where we sort out recyclable resources from the waste stream. Our commercial composting facility was built in the early 1990s after the passing of AB939, California’s state law requiring a 50% diversion rate for the state. Today, with the new statewide goal of 75% recycling, Crown provides some of the best waste and recycling options for customers across Los Angeles - including residential, commercial, industrial and multi-family units. Our facility recycled debris from the Northridge Earthquake in 1994. Construction waste is used to fuel our waste-to-energy plant in Dinuba, CA. Supermarkets such as Vons, Ralphs and Whole Foods have reached over a 90% diversion rate through our supermarket produce composting programs. Compost is used on our own farms that grow corn, alfalfa, grapes and cotton. We continually strive to provide the most advance recycling and composting options for our customers, reducing the amount of waste going to landfills and greenhouse gas emissions.

What they are doing:
Quixote/Smashbox Studios has made a dedicated effort to green their business and continues to integrate green practices into their daily activities. Prior to this innovation the 10 cylinder engine would be running during load-in and out unecesarily polluting the air. Quixote/Smashbox Studios helps their clients green their practices through their green equipment rental division. They are the exclusive provider of battery powered LED worklights. They designed and built a solar-powered cart which has a water cooler, stereo, phone/walkie charger and LED scene light. They also rent recycling cans and reuse layout board where possible.
