FilmL.A. Launches New Film Permitting System

As of March 1, 2008, FilmL.A. will implement the first of several planned information technology upgrades with the internal roll-out of OPS, a custom-built online film permitting system.

Though launching OPS involves a significant overhaul of internal FilmL.A. systems and procedures, very few of these changes will be immediately visible to permit-seeking customers on March 1.

Also effective March 1, FilmL.A. will begin to offer email delivery of finalized film permits to "Permits on Account" credit customers.

Based on input from municipal clients, FilmL.A. will also begin collecting additional information from permit applicants about production staff, on-location activities, etc. through a revised film permit application.  Applications will continue to be accepted in person, by phone, by fax, and online as before.  Within a few months of the internal launch, FilmL.A. will make elements of the OPS system "outward-facing" to allow increasingly greater customer interaction with the system.

Additionally, all new permits will be accompanied by a cover invoice showing a comprehensive breakdown of the fees assessed for requested filming activities.

For more information, please contact FilmL.A. at (213) 977-8600.
