LAEDC says a strike,
either real or de facto, will likely affect Los Angeles economy.
The Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation released its
mid-year forecast which predicts probable repercussions resulting from labor
tensions in the entertainment industry. Whether or not a strike occurs, concerns about a possible strike by the Writers Guild of America have caused studios to
stockpile scripts, according to the study. The LAEDC says that the abundance of
scripts will have to be worked off, causing production activity to subsequently
slump.
