AMPAS to present weeklong tribute to Oscar-winning centenarian composer starting Aug. 17

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be presenting a weeklong series of events paying homage to Oscar-winning composer Miklós Rózsa. The tribute will be kicked off by an overview of Rózsa’s career, showcasing clips from a number of films that earned him nominations or Oscar wins such as “Jungle Book,” “Spellbound” and “Ben-Hur.” The evening will also include a screening of “Ivanhoe” and a panel including Juliet Rózsa, the composer’s daughter. The opening event will take place Friday, August 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. The salute will continue with various screenings throughout the week.
