AMPAS to present weeklong tribute to
Oscar-winning centenarian composer starting Aug. 17
The
Academy of Motion Picture
Arts and Sciences will be presenting a
weeklong series of events paying homage to Oscar-winning composer Miklós
Rózsa. The tribute will be kicked off by an overview of Rózsa’s career,
showcasing clips from a number of films that earned him nominations or Oscar
wins such as “Jungle Book,” “Spellbound” and “Ben-Hur.” The evening will also
include a screening of “Ivanhoe” and a panel including Juliet Rózsa, the
composer’s daughter. The opening event will take place Friday, August 17, at
7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn
Theater in Beverly Hills. The salute
will continue with various screenings throughout the week.
