Museum of Television and Radio becomes The
Paley Center for Media, reflecting a broader
scope that includes digital convergence.
The
Museum of Television and Radio, a group dedicated
to the study of film and
broadcast communication, has recently changed its name to The Paley Center for
Media. The new moniker is intended to signify the shift toward an
all-encompassing center for media, while paying tribute to William S.
Paley, the institution’s founder.
"The media world has changed dramatically since our founder,
William Paley, created the Museum as a way to preserve our cultural heritage as
expressed through television and radio," said Chairman Frank A. Bennack, Jr.
“The new name reflects the reality of a more fully converged world."
