Slamdance

The 14th Annual Slamdance Film Festival is now accepting entries for all genres, including a new category for TV pilots. The festival is scheduled to take place Jan. 17 - 25, 2008 in Park City, Utah. More info can be found at: www.slamdance.com.

Big Apple Film Festival

The Big Apple Film Society is currently accepting submissions for its next festival, set to take place Nov. 14-17 at Tribeca Cinemas. The festival is dedicated to celebrate and promote independent cinema from New York filmmakers, as well as movies about the NYC experience. Rough Cut Labs for Narrative & Documentary Features

IFP is accepting submissions for its Rough Cut Labs, a national program that connects mentors and filmmakers to work on projects before submitting them to festivals. See more info at www.ifp.org/labs.

For the ladies: The LMN student filmmaker competition

Lifetime Movie Network, The Hollywood Reporter, New York Women in Film & Television, William Morris Agency and Women in Film have launched the LMN Student Filmmaker Competition, a national competition intended to encourage and discover the next generation of female filmmakers.

The contest is open to all female film students, including executive producers, producers, writers, cinematographers and editors, and will be judged by a panel of producers, directors, executives and actors from Hollywood including Angela Bassett, Jennifer Lopez, Producer Lauren Shuler Donner and a representative from each of the partner organizations

The winning films will be featured on-air on LMN and will be shown in their entirety on LMN's website, www.lmn.tv. Additionally, the first and second place winners as well as two runners-up will receive cash prizes and will have the opportunity to meet with representatives of the William Morris Agency.

Competition runs through July 16, 2007. Winners will be announced in October 2007. For more information please go to www.LMN.tv/studentfilmmakers.

AFI Fest 2007

Filmmakers are being called upon to submit their work to AFI Fest 2007, which will take place Nov. 1–11, 2007. Find more info at www.afifest.com.

Big Bang Film Festival

The Big Bang Film Festival is looking for exciting documentaries of sports and athletic events and activities within the action, adventure, suspense and Asian action cinema genres.  Fest is held in Philadelphia Oct. 17-21. www.bigbandfilmfestival.com.
