Incumbent will remain president of International Cinematographers Guild after largest voter turnout in Local 600 history.
by Jillian Dauer

Steven Poster will continue his post as president of the International Cinematographers Guild after defeating Challenger Haskell Wexler. Poster received 57.6% of the votes, according to a press release on the organization’s Web site. Over 2,400 votes were cast, the largest turnout in the group’s history.

Poster will serve a three-year term for Local 600, a union that represents camera assistants, operators, directors of photography and publicists. In addition to tackling on-going issues such as runaway production and undesirable working conditions, Poster will also prepare for the next set of Hollywood Basic Agreement negotiations in 2009.

Poster, as well as other elected members of IATSE, will be sworn in next month at the NEB meeting in Los Angeles.
