The new MicroHDTV camera, image courtesy of the Fraunhofer Institute

The Fraunhofer Institute has announced its invention of the MicroHDTV Camera, a tiny high definition camera that comes equipped with features on par with many full-sized HDTV cameras. The camera measures 4 x 4 x 8 cm, or 1.6 x 1.6 x 3.1 inches and its format consists of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a variable frame rate of up to 60 frames per second.

The German scientific institute states the camera is ideal for racecar mounts and hard to reach places. You can see it at NAB 2007 this month in Las Vegas.
