LA County Fire Department to Raise Fire Safety Fees for Productions

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department has recently increased its “Fire Review Fees,” as well as the pay rates for their Fire Safety Officers, or FSO. The fees, which took effect on Oct. 2, were announced by Film LA, an organization that facilitates filming in Los Angeles by acting as a liaison between filmmakers and local governments. This affects the fees that the organization collects and pays the county on the customer’s behalf.

Film LA spokesman Steve MacDonald said in a statement that “While news of a fee increase is never welcome, the Fire Department has committed to apply the fees to improve service and increase staff in the Public Safety and Film Unit.”

More information can be found on Film LA’s Web site (PDF).
