The battle over luring film productions got a little more
competitive last month when Wisconsin joined the game and
South Carolina,
Kauai and Tampa
Bay have sweetened their current
incentive deals. Although relatively late to join the 35 other states offering
film incentives, Wisconsin’s
incentive deals keep up with the best of them.
Florida is doubling its monetary
efforts by increasing its incentive budget to $10 million. And although film
production contributes only a small fraction to
Hawaii’s economy, Gov. Linda Lingle recently signed into law legislation
granting 20% tax breaks to films shot in the
Neighbor
Islands.
