New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver has announced that the state Assembly and Senate have reached an agreement on a bill aimed to entice commercial producers into choosing New York as a location for their productions. The legislation would dole out $10.5 million each year during the next four years, with $7 million coming from the state and $3.5 coming from NYC.

The New York Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting announced in March that  the $50 million budget allocated for the 5 percent tax credit that had been available to all qualifying productions has now been used. Productions can still take advantage of the 10 percent credit and other incentives offered by the “Made in NY” program and applications will still be accepted for the five percent program but will be held until the future of the program is determined by the state legislature.

Ascent Media Group and DALSA have collaborated to offer 4k digital media content delivery through Ascent Media from the DALSA Origin, a 4K digital cinematography camera. “We’re looking forward to applying our 4K post production processes to client projects captured with the Origin camera. We’ve successfully completed quite a number of tests in just about every aspect of our post production workflow and are now in the final stages of qualification and optimization,” said Kevin Sanders, chief technical officer of Media Management Services for Ascent Media Group.
