New
York
411, held
its first annual Advisory Board meeting at the W Hotel in
Manhattan.
The
primary goal of this invitation-only forum enabled diverse members of the
production community to discuss below-the-line production issues with each other
as well as with New
York 411.
“The New York 411 Advisory Board is part of a continuing effort to create a
sense of connection among community members and to keep 411’s finger on the
pulse of what is happening today in the New
York
production world,” comments Kevin Davis, Group Publisher.
It has
always been extremely important to New
York 411
that the product they create is relevant in today’s marketplace. In order to
maintain that relevancy, the 411 Advisory Board has proven to be an efficient
and rewarding environment that has strengthened
New
York 411’s
bridge with the working landscape of New
York
production.
The New
York advisory board was held in January and was attended by the following valued
members of the New York production community: location scout Jimmy Ayoub; Bob
Balin from Feature Systems; freelance producers Eileen Bernstein, Nancy Canava,
Janice Doskey, Leslie Hirshorn and Andrea Leminske; Michelle Byrd of IFP; John
Eddey of Steiner Studios; Keith Guliner of Wits End; Beth Kirsch of the Tribeca
Film Center; Allie Kleva from Mayor Bloomberg’s Office; Doug LeClaire of Asbury
Shorts, NY; Sara Beth Litt from Kodak; Steven Pelton from Governor Pataki’s
Office; Michael Porte of Audio Engine and Where’s Spot; Perry Schaffer of
Schaffer Rogers and Where’s Spot, and Carl Zucker of Media
Services.
The
response from community members who attended proved that industry professionals
within the community are passionate, enthusiastic and excited to share
insightful and informed ideas about what is going on in
New
York film,
television and commercial production. After the lively debate that ensued at
this year’s advisory board meeting, the 411 editorial staff and sales team came
away with an understanding of how the New
York 411
product is, more than ever, an intrinsic tool for any production.
