Academy Will Bestow CGI Veteran with Gordon E. Sawyer Award

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present Gary Demos with an award honoring his technological contributions to the motion picture industry. With a career spanning more than 30 years, Demos has received numerous accolades for his work in motion pictures, ranging from computer generated images to digital film compositing. Forever the pioneer, Demos co-founded DemoGraFX, a technology research and VFX company where he continues to explore methods of computer imaging for motion pictures.  Demos will receive the Oscar statuette at the Scientific and Technical Awards Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 18.
