The LA Times reports that commercial production is up again
in the southland region, a result of the dollar’s decline as well as demand for
movie-quality spots. The number of permits for commercial film production will
surpass that of 2004. Last year’s record of 6,703 exceeded the 2003 number by
20%.
With the dollar’s decline, foreign production has become more
expensive for American companies. Clients are also requiring excellence in ads,
necessitating production that mirrors film, something readily available in
Hollywood.
