The EIDC has elected Steve Dayan to chair this year’s board.
The decision echoes EIDC efforts since 2003 to shift from a board of members
made up mostly of city and county elected officials, to a board that more
comprehensively represents members of the community and industry and who have
larger stakes in production decisions. Steve Dayan has worked closely with the
Teamsters, Local 399 as a business agent for Studio Drivers and Location
Managers.Outgoing Chair Lisa Rawlins concurs that Dayan is just the
man to continue the EIDC’s rebuilding process. “He understands the needs of the
industry and the concerns of the communities in which location filming occurs,”
said Rawlins. “Bringing that vision of ‘balance’ to the EIDC Board is essential
to our success.”
As for Dayan, he knows he has his work cut out for him.
“EIDC’s house is in order and now we must clearly define what services can be
provided within our new business model,” Dayan stated. “I am confident that the
board has the commitment and staff resources to take this crucial next
step."
