A fan of Seth McFarlane's witty social and political commentary, producer Jason Clark was excited to work on the animator's live-action directorial debut. McFarlane, who supplied the voice of Ted the teddy bear, also wanted to infuse his creation with his own mannerisms and gestures. Working with a tight budget, Clark had to find visual effects companies that could deliver the artistic needs within the production's financial restraints.

Arthur Reinhart knew very little about the Civil War and American history when he agreed to shoot the History Channel’s “Hatfields and McCoys.” A German director of photography living in Poland, Reinhart was attracted to the dynamics of the feuding families and immediately immersed himself in researching the period. When he encountered a wealth of original photos of the families, he knew he had the basis for his visual style.

On June 1, the California Film Commission (CFC) awarded a new round of film tax credits under the California Film & Television Tax Credit Program. A total of 28 projects were selected by lottery from an initial pool of 322 program applicants. Capped annually at $100 million, and with its popularity soaring, California’s incentive program is able to award credits to only a handful of interested parties. The initial list of approved projects for the new year appears at the bottom of this article.

Because "The Amazing Spiderman" is a reboot of the Spiderman story, the first order of business was defining the look of Spiderman and how visual effects would bring this newly defined character to life. Director Marc Webb wanted the basis of the film's visual style to revolve around the love story between Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) and Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone.) VFX Supervisor Jerome Chen worked alongside director Marc Webb in their "mission" to transform Peter Parker into his super-hero alter-ego.

New York 411's Aaron Biberstein elected to NYPA Board
Congratulations to New York 411's Aaron Biberstein who became one of the newest members on the New York Productin Alliance's board of directors. Biberstein, a Sales Account Executive for both New York 411 and LA 411, was unanimously elected to fill one of the board's four vacant seats during elections held on June 20th. He joins ten other NYPA directors representing companies who represent companies including Kodak, Panavision, Silvercup Studios, PGA, Entertainment Partners, and NBC Universal..
